A Mothers Dream is a group of mummies who are also photographers, I myself am a mum of two. I have a 5 year old son called Alex and a 1 year old daughter called Willow. We all have very busy lives, most of us are not just working as photographers but have second jobs also, this all interferes with family life. So we have set ourselves a challenge. Each week we must set aside one day to do spend some special time with our children. We have filled jars with different activities and tasks to do with them. Each week we let our children pick one of the activities out of the jar and that will be what we will undertake on our special day. We photograph what we have been up to and then link to each others blogs to see what everyone else has been up to. They are so much fun to read and full of great ideas if you are ever stuck with ideas of what to do with your own children.

Due to working so much this month I was only able to complete 3 out of 4 of the weeks. So I will be doing 5 next month instead to make it up to my kids. But here are out activities 🙂

Week 2- Easter Trail – Held by the National Trust and Cadburys

Easter Sunday we went on an Easter trail through the woods. The kids had to find the answers to questions such as, ‘What is the name of a Foxes home?” and ‘What are baby squirrels called?” When they found out all the answers you would go to the gift shop and win a cadburys chocolate egg. It was great fun getting out with the kids for the morning too 🙂

Week 3- Do something arty

I was very pleased when Alex picked this out of the jar as his homework was to build a castle for school. Cheating slightly I know but gave us a push to get on with it. We used the boxes from the easter eggs to create the shape of the castle he wanted, then he paper mached over the whole castle before painting it. He chose red and white as he is a huge Liverpool football club fan. I think he did a great job. Even down to using kitchen foil to create a moat 🙂

Week 4- Visit a Manor House- Knebworth House

This week we visited Knebworth House, Stevenage, Hertfordshire. This is a special place to us as this is where me and my husband married.

There are so many things to do at Knebworth house with kids. They have a large fort playground, slides, they often have bouncy castles. The gardens have a Maze, which was great fun and took us longer than expected to find the middle where there is a monkey statue hidden. There is a woodland walk through the gardens. The dinosaur trail is great. They have large statue dinosaurs with explanations about what they were called and some facts about them. There are beautiful fountains, a lake with a bridge, wood carvings. Every time we go we see something we hadn’t noticed before. There are often special activities and events taking place there too. Please click here to see what events are currently taking place.
